A great technique to make your acoustic percussion sound more electronic is to use a ring modulator.
Once applied, you will instantly notice the distinct metallic/robotic sound it creates on your dry percussion loop.
Don't just stick to the acoustic sources. Try processing some synthesised percussion too.
