Eq or compression seems to be the first choice of processing when it comes to fine-tuning the kick.
However, don't underestimate the envelope shapers (transient designers). They can help you to shorten the boomy kick or sharpen it's transient.
Use this tool to tweak your sample so it perfectly sits in a mix.
Remember, before you apply any treatment to the kick, always pick the best sample as a starting point.
This way, you will need much less or none of the processing for it to work in your track.
