Most of the time you only need a little bit of compression to achieve a great result when mixing. However, occasionally you really want to abuse your compressor. This can generate interesting textures and artefacts that could sound very musical. Try using fastest attack and release settings as well as low threshold and high ratio to push your compressor to the extreme.
