Audiotent Tip 338. Variations.

Using a static loop of drums, synth or percussion can get boring very quickly. Try one of the following tricks to add variation and keep the listener interested:
1) Reverse. Duplicate your loop and reverse it. Pick up a few snippets of audio that you can place as the ghost notes to retain the excitement within a long static loop.
2) Filtering. Use low pass or high pass filters to add interesting sonic variation to your loops.
3) Delay automation. One of the quickest ways to achieve some extra movement to your loops is to add a delay. Gradually automate it in every 2, 4 or 8 bars. Experiment with long feedback and slightly out of synth timing to create organic rhythms.
