If your noise/synth riser effect ends abruptly, add a touch of delay and reverb to it. This will make it fade out smoothly. Alternatively, duplicate your effect and reverse the copy, so it seamlessly connects. Try processing the copy with a flanger or tremolo for some interesting contrast.
