Getting vocals to sit right in the mix can be tricky. Especially in a busy mix. Here's one technique to let the vocals take center stage. Bus all of your channels apart from the vocals together. Then apply a compressor. Set the sidechain trigger of the compressor to be the vocals. Now adjust the ratio, threshold, attack and release to taste. 1 or 2db usually does the trick. Your vocals will now be the main focus in the mix.
