If you like the click and punch of your kick drum, but the low frequencies lack tightness. Don't rush to replace the kick. Insert a high pass filter to remove sub frequencies below 80-120hz. Add a soft synth on another channel and generate a short sub sine wave tuned to the key of your track. Layer this with your original kick until it sounds coherent.
