#AudiotentTip 172. Gated Snare Reverb.
A great way to make your snares sound larger than life is to use a gated reverb. This sound was extremely popular in the 1980’s and is still heavily used in current productions.
First, send your snare to a bus. On the send channel, add a long tail reverb, with the dry/wet set to 100% wet. After the reverb add a gate. Set the sidechain input for the gate to be the original snare channel and just the threshold, attack, hold & release to taste.
