Idea A) Velocity is often overlooked, try altering it to increase dynamics in your drum, synth patterns or orchestral samples.
Idea B) Instead of locking your notes to a grid, move them manually until you get a desired swing/feel.
Idea C) Loop a short MIDI pattern (3-5 notes). Now alter the length of it's region. This could create a more irregular/interesting grooves.
